The German concept “Poliklinik” refers to community health centers aimed at reducing health inequalities and providing comprehensive local healthcare.

Summary

They achieve this by integrating medical care with community work, social support, and political engagement. These centers offer a wide range of services, including medical, nursing, and psychological care, as well as physiotherapy and social counseling. They place great importance on the integration of health promotion, prevention, and the care of vulnerable groups. These centers work closely with local stakeholders, encourage residents' self-organization, and provide educational and counseling services on topics such as nutrition, physical activity, and stress management. There is an umbrella organization that coordinates the local centers and supports their efforts to go beyond treatment, aiming to act preventively and transformatively to promote equal health opportunities and ensure fair and needs-based healthcare in the long term.
