This book presents 21 city-concepts, which we just find in the literature. These city-concepts characterize how cities change in the context of social, economic and cultural chance of modern societies on the one hand. One the other hand we find there concepts, in which cities are characterized by dominant processes of technological and cultural modernisation, in which they are involved and which have consequences on the socio-structure and on changing socio-economic and socio- cultural practices and behaviour in urban contexts.
So the book is a very good overview on the discussion of the differences in the character and the functions of cities in the world.
