Discussion

With this text Sebastian Euler and Marc Walter have illustrated the field of mentalization-based treatment in a very intently manner. As s bridging concept, the authors embed the MBT in related precesses and at thesame time show the MBT's own development. The use of footnotes, the (clinical) examples and especisally the „side-notes“ increase the understanding oft he MBT and make this procedure almost tangible. The detailed description of single aspects oft he MBT make ist easier for readers to manage the transition from theory to clinical examples. The authors use their experience to provide a practical insight into the MBT. For practicians it is a reservoir of theary-based information on the MBT process, ist fields of use and also obstacles of psychotherapists. When reading, one gets the impression that MBT is not only very effective for certain groups of patient but also seems tob e logical and „simple“ so far. This is probably also a „secret of sucess“: to allow a certain ease and clarity to flow into the profundity and difficulty oft he therapeutic cooperation.

Summary

In this book, readers will discover a compact overview on the possible (scientific) development usage of mentalization-based therapy. Thanks tot he insight into the practice and the many comments to varios mentalization techniques, this reference book is a wealth for all practicians and the encouragement for further education in this therapeitic procedure. It is a totally recommendable specialist book!
