Summary

Housing is a human right, but is subject to the market to a large extent. Social work must go beyond crisis intervention and focus on the social and political contexts of homelessness. Community work with the aim of community organising can help to ensure that empowered associations of people from different cultures are formed at a local level or in the district, which actively contribute to the decommodification of housing.
