Summary
This volume, “Not the First: Movement Stories of Queers of Color in Germany”, is thought-provoking and encourages further reflection. That is the best thing a book can do. The book should be the prelude to further research into queer movement history - and challenge previous dominant narratives. It is important to look beyond fixed identities and to take paths that initially seem off the beaten track in order to trace the references to queer references in biographies.
